Shania Twain Apologizes for Saying She Would Have Voted for Trump

Country-pop superstar Shania Twain caused a stir yesterday when she said in an interview with The Guardian that if she would have been able to vote in the Presidential election that it would have been for Donald Trump.

Here’s the excerpt from that interview that caused such a ruckus on social media.

It is not the only way in which she expresses her conservatism. If she had been able to vote in the US election, she would have plumped for Donald Trump, she says. “I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn’t be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don’t want bullshit. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?”

That’s it. In a very long interview, mostly about her life and career, this paragraph that was near the very end, caused people to lose their minds and prompted Twain to apologize/clarify what she meant.

This is really a non-story and why The Guardian even asked her about it is questionable. Twain is Canadian and therefore ineligible to vote in US elections, so it really doesn’t matter who she hypothetically might have voted for. Not to mention, it has nothing else to do with the profile piece about her life.

And if she had been able to vote for Donald Trump and felt that was the right choice – she shouldn’t apologize for anything.

Celebrities who say something different than what’s expected of them need to stop bowing to the liberal mob when they start crying about an opinion they don’t agree with. Last time I checked, people were free to think whatever they want and vote for whomever they like.

Former Football Player Faces Backlash Over Daughter’s Prom Photo

Former NFL player Jay Feely posted a photo with his daughter and her date on Prom night. In the photo, Feely is holding a gun and the caption reads: “Wishing my beautiful daughter and her date a great time at prom

Unless you’ve been living under a rock your whole life, you’ve heard the joke about dads cleaning their guns while the boyfriend is at the house to send a signal not to do anything to hurt their daughter.

People were not amused. (I found it hilarious and obviously her prom date is in on it. )

The feminists somehow took it as a sign of ownership. Whatever.

Some are even calling for him to be taken off CBS sports.

Feely apologized but HE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO. It was posted in fun, the weapon was not aimed at her boyfriend and people need to calm down and have a sense of humor.

Kanye West Becoming a Voice of Reason?

Yeezy is raising some eyebrows with his latest Tweets. Yesterday, he tweeted that he likes the way Candace Owens thinks.

Owens is a conservative African American who has been critical of the Black Lives Matters movement. She’s the communications director for Turning Point USA and has her own YouTube channel where she often criticizes liberal policies. She’s also a strong Trump supporter.

On Fox and Friends this morning, she thanked Kanye for his support, adding that “Kanye West does not really want to fold to controversy. If you look at things historically, Kanye West has really represented the battering ram against political correctness.”

Liberals were immediately upset by West’s tweet.

Then today, West began fighting back, tweeting in favor of differing opinions and railing against the thought police.

Hate to say it but Kanye is making a lot of sense here. And it’s kind of refreshing to see a celebrity thinking oppositely of how people think he should.

Sheriff Scott Israel Facing No Confidence Vote by His Deputies

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, who described himself as having amazing leadership, is facing a vote of no confidence from his own deputies.

From The Daily Caller:

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputies Association has scheduled a no-confidence vote for Sheriff Scott Israel over his behavior during the lead-up to and aftermath of the Parkland school shooting, union president Deputy Jeff Bell announced Friday.

The union is accusing Israel of “many instances of suspected malfeasance, misfeasance, failure to maintain fiduciary responsibility by the sheriff, failure to properly investigate possible criminal conduct by members of his senior command staff and the lack of leadership that has crushed morale throughout the agency.”

Bell told CNN that “the historic move is due to the dysfunction of the office, which has been piling up for years. But it was Israel’s behavior after the school shooting that left 17 people dead that pushed the rank and file over the edge.”

There have been many calls for Israel to resign and some lawmakers have asked the governor to suspend him. Neither have happened.

Also from CNN:

The no-confidence voting period will close April 26, to allow all the voting members to cast their ballot during their shift. All deputies and sergeants in the union will have the power to vote.
While the outcome of the no-confidence vote is mostly symbolic, it will give the sheriff a sense of what his rank-and-file deputies think of his command.
“Some of his best supporters are being vocal against him,” said Bell. “The morale just disappeared. The morale is gone.”
Maybe now the sheriff will realize his incompetency and step down.

WATCH: PragerU Asks New Yorkers if They Have Republican Friends

Will Whitt from PragerU  asked people in NYC’s Washington Square Park if they know or have any Republican friends and the answers are hilarious.

One woman responded, “NO! Thank God.”

Another said, “I wouldn’t be friends with anyone who is a Republican.” When asked why, she responded, “I don’t like that kind of extremism.”

A third woman added that you won’t find many Republicans in New York City because it’s a liberal city and you have to be open-minded to live there. She also said that because it’s such a diverse city, people can’t be bigoted or racist and live there.

One guy said he’s “literally never even met Republicans.”

Watch the rest of the responses below.

Gotta love tolerant liberals!

British Court Rules Against Parents Again: Socialized Medicine at its Finest

If you were paying attention to the news at all last year, you may have seen the high profile case between the parents of Charlie Gard and the British government. Charlie had an extremely rare condition and his parents wanted to try experimental treatment on him in the US. They’d even raised the funds, but the court system ruled against them, sparking outrage that the parents weren’t able to make medical decisions for their own child.

Charlie was taken off life support, passed away last July and was not allowed to die at home as the parents requested. A judge ordered him into hospice care, once again going against the parents’ wishes.

Sadly, it’s happening again.

This time to Alfie Evans, a two year old with a degenerative neurological condition that doctors haven’t been able to officially identify. His parents want to take him to Rome for treatment, but the court is saying no, siding with the hospital instead.

According to the BBC,  doctors at the hospital where Alfie is receiving treatment say “continued ventilator support is not in Alfie’s best interests and in the circumstances it is not lawful that such treatment continue”.

Judges have ruled that the hospital, not the parents, have the final say and the court denied the parents permission to appeal that decision. The Supreme Court also approved a plan for ending Alfie’s treatment and bringing his life to an end.

We Americans need to pay attention. This is what socialized medicine looks like. Parents are no longer able to make medical decisions for their children and the NHS is in charge. So what if you can afford it? The courts and the healthcare system have the final say.

Our country is not immune to these kinds of cases (see Terri Schiavo or Jahi McMath) but they’re rare and our courts normally side with the patients NOT the health care providers.

Health care may need reform in the US, but it certainly doesn’t need to morph into the British model of socialized medicine. If it does, you better pray you stay healthy or else the government might step in and take your right to life away.

David and Lauren Hogg are Writing a Book

You had to see this one coming. David Hogg and his sister Lauren are writing a book. Entitled #NeverAgain, it will feature  a forward written by Parkland student and activist Emma Gonzalez.

David’s sister Lauren says the book “tells the story of how we turned our grief into action and how we fight and speak out for those who no longer can.”

From the synopsis on Amazon:

This book is a manifesto for the movement begun that day, one that has already changed America–with voices of a new generation that are speaking truth to power, and are determined to succeed where their elders have failed. With moral force and clarity, a new generation has made it clear that problems previously deemed unsolvable due to powerful lobbies and political cowardice will be theirs to solve. Born just after Columbine and raised amid seemingly endless war and routine active shooter drills, this generation now says, Enough. This book is their statement of purpose, and the story of their lives. It is the essential guide to the #NeverAgain movement.

The book will be released on June 5th and according to the Hoggs’, all proceeds will benefit healing in the Parkland community as well as fighting gun violence, but name no specific organizations to which they are donating.
