Former President Donald Trump is launching his own social media platform. TRUTH Social is expected to go live in early 2022 and promises to “stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech.”
Currently, the app is in beta testing with a limited number of people invited to try it out starting in November. Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), a new company established by Trump, is creating the app after many social media platforms silenced the former President.
“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump said. “We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable”
“I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon,” Trump added. “TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech. Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”
The announcement was made Wednesday night.
Trump has been suspended from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. All three companies have said he won’t be reinstated until “the risk of real-world violence has decreased.”
