Actor Tim Allen, best known for his roles on Home Improvement, Last Man Standing and the voice of Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, is sounding off about politics and his thoughts on former President Trump.
Allen was recently interviewed for Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast and has always been openly conservative in Hollywood. The actor said he started leaning more toward fiscal conservativism because like most Americans, he didn’t like paying taxes.
“I just don’t like — once I started making money — I had this silent partner [the government] that took almost half of my money and never gave me anything for it. That was the taxes,” he said. “I’ve never liked taxes. Whoever takes the taxes and never tells me what they did with it, I’m a fiscal conservative person with money. That’s it,” Allen said.
On Trump, the actor said once he “realized that the last president pissed people off, I kind of liked that.”
He went on to say that he doesn’t believe in telling anybody how to live or push his politics off on other people.
“What I’ve done is just not joined into — as I call it — the ‘we culture.’ I’m not telling anybody else how to live. I don’t like that. ‘We should do this,’ ‘We should do that,'” he said.
The star’s current show, Last Man Standing is in its final season on Fox.
