Fans of ‘The Mandalorian” won’t be seeing actress Gina Carano on the popular series anymore. Disney and LucasFilm announced that they have dropped the actress from the show after outrage over some posts on her social media accounts.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement via The Hollywood Reporter. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Carano shared a post attributing being Republican today to that of being a Jew during the Holocaust and shortly after #FireGinaCarano started trending. She has since deleted the post, but not before causing outrage.
Last fall, Carano tweeted some anti-mask memes and posted that fraud played a part in the 2020 election.
At one point, it had been rumored Carano was planning to star in her own spin off series, but that looks like it won’t happen now. Carano has not issued a statement on the firing.
