Warnock unseats Loeffler in Georgia Senate race

Democrats are poised to take control of the Senate after last night’s run off races in Georgia.

Sen. Kelly Loeffler was defeated by Raphael Warnock, the first ever African American man to be elected to the Senate from the state of Georgia. Votes are still being counted in the race between Sen. David Perdue and Democrat Jon Ossoff, but it looks likely that race will be called for the Democrat as well.

Warnock addressed supporters last night via a livestream.

According to USA Today, Warnock was declared the winner in that race around 2 a.m. and led Loeffler by 46,500.

“To everyone out there struggling today, whether you voted for me or not, know this,” Warnock said. “I hear you, I see you, and every day I’m in the United States Senate, I will fight for you. I will fight for your family.”
