Colin Kaepernick inspires new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor

Ice Cream makers Ben & Jerry’s have a new flavor on store shelves: “Change the Whirled.”

The company announced yesterday that the new product is inspired by former San Francisco 49ers signal caller and activist Colin Kaepernick. It’s a vegan ice cream, made with caramel non-dairy sunflower butter and fudge chips with graham crackers and chocolate cookies swirled in.

“Kaepernick’s courageous work to confront systemic oppression and to stop police violence against Black and Brown people,” inspired the new flavor the company said.

A portion of the sales revenue will go to Kaepernick’s non-profit.

“Colin Kaepernick is serving up sweet justice with the non-dairiest compilation of cookies & caramel. This flavor honors Colin’s activism in pursuit of racial justice & his portion of the proceeds from Change the Whirled™ go to Know Your Rights Camp,” says the description on the Ben & Jerry’s web site.

The new flavor will be available starting in 2021.
