Talented actress and Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence spoke out on her past voting record, noting she grew up in Kentucky with Republican parents.
Lawrence says she voted for McCain in 2008, “but through Obama’s presidency, and growing up to realize I was voting against my own rights.” She now says she’s a proud Democrat.
Lawrence said she sees the benefit of conservative fiscal issues, but the social stances the GOP takes were deal breakers.
The election of Donald Trump in 2016 solidified her shift left.
“This is an impeached president whose broken many laws and has refused to condemn white supremacy, and it feels like there has been a line drawn in the sand,” Lawrence said.
“I don’t want to support a president who supports white supremacists,” she added.
