This week Amy Coney Barrett is going before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The committee is made up of a select number of Republicans and Democrats, who will eventually vote on her nomination before sending it to the entire United States Senate for a vote.
However, before the committee votes, each and every senator on that that committee will use their questions to grandstand, asking her questions about her past judicial rulings, her feelings on particular issues, her family and really, anything they want.
During Tuesday’s questioning, Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono asked a rather odd question. She asked her if she has ever committed sexual assault.
I understand that you don’t want a sexual deviant sitting on the court but this question really comes out of left field.
