Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and his wife Kelly attended the final night of the Republican National Convention last night. Following President Trump’s speech, the couple were surrounded by protesters as they were trying to leave.
Paul tweeted about the scary confrontation, thanking the police for getting them to safety.
“Just got attacked by an angry mob of over 100, one block away from the White House. Thank you to @DCPoliceDept for literally saving our lives from a crazed mob,” he said.
DC Police surrounded the Senator and his wife as angry protesters yelled “what about Breonna?” and some even started tapping on the Senator’s back and shoving him.
Paul has been fighting for police reform, introducing a bill back in June called the Justice for Breonna Taylor Act. According to a release on Paul’s web site, he worked with her parents to name the bill which would end no knock warrants in the United States.
