President Trump is downplaying comments his sister Maryanne Trump Barry said about him in a leaked audio interview obtained by The Washington Post.
Trump Barry, who is a federal judge, can be heard talking to their niece Mary L. Trump, who recently released a tell-all book about the President. According to the paper, Mary L. Trump recorded her aunt without her knowlege.
“All he wants to do is appeal to his base,” Barry said. “He has no principles. None. None. And his base, I mean my God, if you were a religious person, you want to help people. Not do this.”
Barry is also not especially thrilled with how Trump’s behaving in office, pointing to his Tweets and and lack of preparation on the job.
“His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God. I’m talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy shit,” she said.
Trump seemed to shrug the comments off, telling Axios in a statement he didn’t care.
“Every day it’s something else, who cares,” the President said.
“I’ll continue to work hard for the American people,” Trump continued. “Not everyone agrees, but the results are obvious. Our country will soon be stronger than ever before.”
The RNC, where Trump will accept his party’s nomination, starts next week.
