If you believe the moon landing was faked, that Ted Cruz’s father was involved in President Kennedy’s assassination and that former President Barack Obama was ineligible for the presidency because he wasn’t born in the country, well odds are very, very good you’re a die-hard Trump supporter.
In fact, in all likelihood, you’re probably one of those who, as President Trump said, would still 100% support him even if he shot and killed someone on 5th Avenue. Of course, if Trump were to do such a thing, the entire thing would be fake and any and all footage of the murder would be FAKE NEWS, right?
Well, sadly, as the Republican Party continues its downward trajectory, conspiracy theories are becoming more and more accepted in the party of Lincoln. In Georgia this week, voters nominated Marjorie Taylor Greene as their GOP nominee for Congress. Greene has a well documented history of supporting conspiracy theories, including QANON, which states that Democrats and other members of the elite are secretly members of a devil worshipping cult that rapes children and drinks their blood.
Following her win this week, Greene was welcomed with open arms by another conspiracy theory supporting member of the GOP: President Donald Trump.
On Sunday’s State of the Union, Jake Tapper called out Greene and those elected members of the party who have welcomed her unconditionally and who have not called out her tinfoil hat beliefs.
The fact that someone with the belief system is a GOP nominee for any position is nothing more than a sign of how badly the Republican Party has been perverted by Trump and Trumpism. If this is what the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan has become then just take it down, take it all down because it doesn’t need to exist anymore. If nothing else, it’ll at least be entertaining watching it all burn to the ground.
