Reporter believes destroying private property is not violence

George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in Minnesota. People are protesting his unjust death all over the country, calling for changes to policing and society in general.

Once again, protesting is fine. People, as Americans, have the legal right to protest. However, what we don’t have the right to do is to loot, riot and destroy private property.

As bad and as wrong as Floyd’s murder was, responding with violence, rioting and destroying private property isn’t the way to answer the situation.

But some don’t see it that way. In fact, to some dismantling property and setting businesses on fire isn’t violence at all. In fact, they believe they are completely replace and so therefore, a completely acceptable form of protesting.
