Yikes!
Democratic Rep. Eliot Engel was caught on a hot mic not once, but TWICE, saying he didn’t care about a press conference to address the protests against George Floyd’s death. The reason he did? Because he has a primary challenger.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., who was talking with Engel when he made the statement, couldn’t quite believe what he was hearing, so he asked him to repeat himself. And Engel did, saying the exact same thing.
Watch the video below:
!!! @RepEliotEngel heard on hot mic asking @rubendiazjr for a turn to speak, says twice, "If I didn't have a primary, I wouldn't care."
Diaz responds, "Don't do that to me."

Response to the hot mic moment was swift.
Given the seriousness of these times, how more disgusting of a comment can you make @RepEliotEngel ?!?
Stunning remark from a #democrat that may explain why we are where we are.
If you care about whats happening and live in his district please vote for @JamaalBowmanNY https://t.co/e65wg5AsxO

This is exactly why @justicedems exist. We are sick and tired of politicians who only decide to do their jobs when they think they'll lose their seat.
I'm ready to elect @JamaalBowmanNY on June 23rd. Join us: https://t.co/P2KM7KDDDK https://t.co/KKXOPjGpdO
