Traditionally, the former presidential portrait is unveiled and hung at the White House during the current president’s first term. It’s a ritual that’s taken place for decades and the former President and First Lady are invited to attend as a gesture of “goodwill and harmony” in Washington, D.C.
Reportedly, President Trump has no plans to continue this tradition and according to NBC, former President Obama also isn’t interested in the event either.
The two haven’t been on friendly terms – ever. President Trump has said Obama “committed the biggest political crime in American history”, while the former President took shots at Trump during a graduation speech on Sunday.
He called Trump’s handling of the Coronavirus pandemic “absolute chaotic disaster” and said U.S. leaders “aren’t even pretending to be in charge” during the pandemic.
