Trump tells reporter Weija Jang to go ‘ask China’ her question

CBS reporter Weijia Jiang has tangled with President Trump before, but yesterday’s exchange abruptly ended the press conference after she asked why it matters if the United States has the greatest testing capacity in the world if people are still losing their lives.

“Why is this a global competition to you if every day Americans are still losing their lives and we’re still seeing more cases every day?,” she asked.

Trump’s response was to tell her to go ask China.

“Well, they’re losing their lives everywhere in the world. And maybe that’s a question you should ask China,” Trump replied. “Don’t ask me, ask China that question, OK. When you ask them that question, you may get a very unusual answer.”

He then called on another reporter, but seemed to get irritated when CNN’s Kaitlin Collins stepped up to the microphone and tried to let Jiang ask a follow up. The President abruptly ended the presser after that.

Today, the President has been tweeting up a storm about the exchange, saying they were “fake journalists” and conspiring together and “the enemy of the people.”
