Atlanta mayor blames Trump for Ahmaud Arbery’s death

Keisha Lance Bottoms, the Democratic mayor of Atlanta, is throwing some of the blame for the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery on President Trump. Bottoms appeared on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, saying that the administration incites violence.

“It’s 2020 and this was a lynching of an African American man,” she said.

“With the rhetoric we hearing coming out of the White House in so many ways, I think that many who are prone to being racist are given permission to do it in an overt way we otherwise would not see in 2020,” she continued. “We don’t have that leadership at the top right now. It’s disheartening.”

President Trump called the incident sad, saying law enforcement would handle the matter, however also said there could be things we didn’t see on the tape.
