The coronavirus pandemic has hit our economy hard. For evidence, look no further than the news that oil prices actually went below zero.
It actually dropped to -$37. Who has ever heard of something going into negative prices?
Anyway, common sense would dictate that with such a dramatic drop in price, job losses aren’t going too far behind. And with oil touching nearly every part of our economy in one way or the other, where those losses may come from is anybody’s guess.
But being a politician – whether it’s a Republican or a Democrat – means striking when the iron is hot or when an opportunity presents itself, even if that opportunity comes during a deadly pandemic.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seemed to think that the negative price in oil was excellent and in her words, from a now-deleted tweet, “you absolutely love to see it.”
AOC believes now is the time to try convince and perhaps even implement some of her Green New Deal ideas. After deleting her first tweet, she continued, making her intentions entirely clear.
Let’s be honest for a second, all politicians, on both sides of the aisle take do similar things, never letting a good crisis go to waste. It’s just that not all of them are as transparent or obvious with their intentions as Ocasio-Cortez is being with hers.
