In the last decade or so, geek or nerd culture has exploded. Thanks to the constant stream and popularity of the Marvel films and “The Big Bang Theory,” that has become mainstream. There are conventions for gamers, cosplayers, comic book fans and everything in between.
And generally the people that are into these kinds of these are referred to as “nerds.” However, if one English academic gets her way, you could end up with charges for calling someone a “geek” or a “nerd.”
Sadly, I’m not kidding. Dr. Sonja Falck believes that those with very high IQ’s are often bullied and labeling those people as nerds or geeks further harasses them, isn’t inconclusive and therefore, the law should intervene.
