The National Basketball Association is opening their 2019-2020 season this week. In addition to the games and the players, the one thing on every NBA and a lot of non-NBA fans’ mind is the China situation.
The NBA, after Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey posted a tweet supporting the protesters in Hong Kong, have been embroiled of a controversy primarily of their own making.
Several prominent coaches and players have spoken out seemingly against Morey, against the protesters and against free speech. It’s not a good look. But the NBA does big business in China and rocking the boat means a possible loss of revenue.
Knowing all of this, there haven’t been any current players or coaches that have stood up for the right to free speech and against the Communist country.
But we can always count on Shaquille O’Neal.
Shaq Tuesday night spoke out in favor of free speech, the protesters and the Rockets GM.
