Members of the GOP are often known for sticking their foot in their mouth when it comes to talking about abortion, rape and incest. And now, Iowa Rep. Steve King is in the hot seat over some comments he made at Iowa’s Westside Conservative Club.
“What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled out anyone who was a product of rape or incest?” King said. “Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?”
Cringe-worthy indeed.
2020 Democrats running for president have latched on to those comments to further propel their campaigns and that of their Democratic colleagues and many are calling for him to resign.
Iowans have long deserved better than Steve King and his hateful, insulting words. He should resign.
We can show him it's time to go by donating to the guy who will beat him—my inspiring friend @JDScholten: https://t.co/v3Kd7Y9JCV https://t.co/g6cgOswmjp

Mayor Pete Buttigieg went on NBC, where he said “I would think anybody who had said something that extreme would resign. But then again, I doubt that he’ll actually do it.”
John Delany and Julian Castro also called for him to step down.
Even Ilhan Omar weighed in. “Gross! This would explain why these weirdos are fixed on smearing me with claims of incest. Projecting their filth, unreal..” she tweeted.
