The convention, which will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina next summer, shows the GOP elephant symbol in front of a crown, which is a symbol of the city. But to some, it looks more like the elephant is about to fight a giant squid or spider. (I see spider)
Others reference Cthulhu from H.P. Lovecraft’s short story, “The Call of Cthulhu.”

Some compared it to a monster from Stranger Things.
What the fuck is in the background behind the fat elephant? Is that the monster in Stranger Things 3? https://t.co/sZmiDOle7a pic.twitter.com/MkLVSpf5hx

It looks like the Mind Flayer from Stranger Things is eating the GOP. https://t.co/O4M3ff32fo

I know everyone's saying that's a crown, but… pic.twitter.com/9jq6QUHcCp

It is kind of weird looking and probably would have been much better without the crown in the background.
Reminds me more of Spectre from James Bond than Hydra. pic.twitter.com/6cqbinqePY
