When you’re polling at 0%, you’ll throw anything at the wall in the hopes that it’ll stick.
New York City May Bill de Blasio is a terrible candidate. He’s not going to be the Democratic nominee for president not in 2020, not ever. His own city didn’t even want him to run for the White House.
Right now, equal pay for women’s sports teams is a hot-button issue. It’s in the current news cycle after the U.S. women’s team won the World Cup. So, like the politician he is, de Blasio is trying to take advantage of the topic and thought it would be a good idea to toss out an idea.
Bill de Blasio: "If I were President of the United States, I would insist that Congress pass an amendment to the Amateur Sports Act requiring equal pay for men and women for all of our national sports teams." https://t.co/UWUQty9sXX pic.twitter.com/MbWavFB9xc

At this point, it’s getting downright embarrassing for the de Blasio campaign. If this is the best he can do, it’s time to close up shop, call it a day and go back to ruining New York City.
