Obama tells crowd in Brazil that because of America’s lax gun laws, ‘anybody can buy any weapon at any time’

What the what?

Former President Obama is spreading lies about America’s gun laws while speaking to a crowd in Brazil. A keynote speaker at the VTEX DAY Digital Innovation Convention in Sao Paulo, Obama said the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School was the “worst day” of his entire Presidency.

He then went on to say that, “Some of you may be aware our gun laws in the United States don’t make much sense. Anybody can buy any weapon any time.”

“Without much, if any, regulation, they can buy it over the Internet, they can buy machine guns,” he continued. “And for me, having to speak to parents who have lost a child, just two days or a day after it had happened, and not being able to assure them that that would change, that we would fix this — I couldn’t bring their children back, but I couldn’t even promise them that we would change the law so this didn’t happen to somebody else’s children.”

Anybody can buy a firearm? Hmm, ok. If that’s true, then how come we have background checks that effectively stop prohibited possessors from purchasing them??

Somebody might want to also tell Obama that machine guns manufactured after 1986 are illegal for citizens to purchase. And if you want to buy one made before then, you have to fill out a WHOLE lot of paperwork , get your FFL and probably need to have thousands of dollars lying around to  purchase one.

Thanks, Obama for spreading outright lies about America’s gun laws to other nations of the world.
