Planned Parenthood declares a reproductive state of emergency

Planned Parenthood president Leana Wen has declared a state of emergency following new abortion laws in the states of Alabama, Ohio, Georgia, Missouri and Louisiana. Wen told Huffington Post that women’s lives are in danger because of the new bills.

“If anyone had any doubts before, what we’ve seen in recent weeks has made it very clear that we are in a state of emergency for women’s health in America,” she said. “I come from this as a former public health official, having called states of emergency before for other crises, but unlike a state of emergency that’s called after natural disasters or infectious diseases, this is a man-made disaster that’s years in the making and it’s endangering women’s lives.”

The abortion provider has filed lawsuits in several of the states trying to stop the new laws.

The state of emergency comes with charts, stats and fancy graphics to drive their point home.
