Los Angeles bans travel for county employees to Alabama over abortion bill

The city of Los Angeles has enacted a one year travel ban to the state of Alabama, citing the new abortion law as the reason.

LA county employees traveling to the state for official business will not be allowed to travel to the state unless it’s for a legal reason or for emergency response training.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis said this about the ban:

“We must stand in solidarity and in opposition against extremist and unconstitutional laws that put the health and wellbeing of families at risk. The constitutional and human right to a safe and legal abortion is part of the very fabric of the United States. As such, Los Angeles County will stand against all attempts to dismantle the protections afforded by Roe v. Wade and the U.S. Constitution.”

Officials for the county are also writing a letter to Alabama’s Governor Kay Ivey asking them to repeal the new abortion law.
