HUD Secretary Ben Carson is a quiet guy who is very soft spoken. While running for president in 2016, there were plenty of jokes that during debates he fell asleep or was simply uninterested because of his refusal to engage in the back and forth sniping that we’ve become used to with politics.
This week, Carson appeared before a House committee and at one point during his comments he said, “I would like to reclaim my time” during an exchange with freshman Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley.
Rep. Ilhan Omar used this as an opportunity to mock the brain surgeon.
Not sure he was fully awake, maybe he meant to reclaim his time back to sleep. https://t.co/t25Pta8bVY

Not willing to let such a weak cheap shot go by, Carson responded to the Democratic representative, who isn’t the biggest fan of Jews.
Since you brought it up… I know what it's like to actually be sleepy, especially after 18-hour surgeries and operating on babies in the womb. I hope @IlhanMN knows I care about all people, even those she doesn't recognize as having a right to life. https://t.co/BRl3ibSKM3

This is so out of character for the good doctor, but a welcomed surprise.
