Cory Booker says he’d use executive action on abortion rights

Democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker plans to take executive action on abortion his first day in office. The New Jersey Senator released a statement saying Republicans are attacking Americans’ rights to control their own bodies and he would  “codify Roe v. Wade into federal law.”

“Republican-controlled state legislatures across the country are mounting a coordinated attack on abortion access and reproductive rights. A coordinated attack requires a coordinated response,” he said in a statement. “That’s why on day one of my presidency, I will immediately and decisively take executive action to respond to these relentless efforts to erode Americans’ rights to control their own bodies.”

He will also create a White House Office of Reproductive Freedom, expand the Title X family planning program, force employers to cover birth control, repeal the Hyde Amendment.

“Trump and Pence are leading a coordinated attack on women’s rights by denying individuals the ability to make their own health care decisions. And we need a coordinated response to protect those freedoms,” he tweeted.
