The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition is hot off the press, and not only are they featuring a model in hijab for the first time, but they are also highlighting plus sized model Hunter McGrady.

“For too long we have heard talk that we need of diversity in media, but what exactly does that look like,” McGrady said. “The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and not only recognizing our individual differences, but accepting them wholeheartedly. Differences of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs or other ideologies need to be fully embraced as the very fabric that make up our modern understanding of the world today.”
SI posted a video of McGrady’s shoot to promote the issue.

She also told Instyle she didn’t want to hide anything in her shoot.
“It’s never about ‘Oh, let me tuck this in, let me do this, let me do that.’ I really want to showcase my body as it is. It’s so important that it’s prevalent in the images that are picked.”
