Social media gives us the opportunity to connect with people in an instant. Sometimes this is a good thing and other times that’s not the case.
For instance, Florida Sen. Rick Scott and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had quite the spat on Twitter Monday. Even though they both work in Congress and could easily meet in person, they decided to go back and forth on social media.
It all started when Scott was going after New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker’s newly-unveiled gun proposal. In doing so, he went after Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal by mocking it, saying that “Maybe @AOC will make makes us register every time we buy meat as part of her #Green New Deal.”
What's next? Will we have to register sharp knives? Maybe @AOC will make us register every time we buy meat as part of her #GreenNewDeal.
The Democrats are officially the @BernieSanders Party. They want America to be less prosperous and less free. (2/2)

Well, of course Ocasio-Cortez couldn’t let this go and just had to respond but she showed she’s doesn’t quite understand sarcasm.
That a sitting US Senator can say something lacking so much critical thinking + honesty is embarrassing to the institution.
If you were a female candidate, maybe you’d be called “unlikeable,” “crazy,” or “uninformed.”
But since you’re not, this inadequacy is accepted as normal. https://t.co/KLkaYxfT6K

That a sitting Congresswoman doesn’t understand sarcasm would be embarrassing to the institution if you hadn’t embarrassed yours to the point of irrelevance already.
