New York man admits to raping 14-year-old girl, not sent to prison

Crimes in which innocent children are the victims are likely to get even the most passive person’s blood boiling. For instance, child molesters are considered the lowest of the low in society, and for good reason.

That’s why there is understandable outrage about a recent case in New York state.  A 25-year-old man,  a school bus driver, who actually pleaded guilty to raping a 14-year-old girl, is not going to spend any time in prison.

Instead, the judge sentenced Shane Piche to 10-years of probation and  to register as a sex offender.

Like most normal people, you’re probably thinking the sentence is way too lenient. However, Piche’s lawyer believes this this sentence will cause hit client plenty of hurt and pain as he actually said the following:

“He’ll be a felon for the rest of his life. He’s on the sex offender registry for a long time, maybe not the rest of his life because of the level. But this isn’t something that didn’t cause him pain and this isn’t something that didn’t have consequences.”
