President Trump and Sen. Mitt Romney haven’t always seen eye to eye, and it seems that after reading the Mueller report, Romney’s opinion of him hasn’t changed.
Earlier today, the senator released a statement saying that he’d read the full report, and it was good news there was insufficient evidence to charge Trump. He then implored that the government move on.
However, Romney doesn’t stop there, finishing off his statement with a scathing critique of the President’s character. He says he was “sickened at the extent and pervasiveness of dishonesty and misdirection by individuals in the highest office of the land, including the President.”
“I am also appalled that, among other things, fellow citizens working in a campaign for president welcomed help from Russia — including information that had been illegally obtained; that none of them acted to inform American law enforcement; and that the campaign chairman was actively promoting Russian interests in Ukraine,” he continued.
“Reading the report is a sobering revelation of how far we have strayed from the aspirations and principles of the founders.”
I have now read the redacted Mueller report and offer my personal reaction: pic.twitter.com/ACnExskqXJ
