Immigration at the forefront of CNN town hall with Julián Castro

Julián Castro, the former HUD Secretary under President Obama, is running for the 2020 Democratic nomination for President and immigration is at the top of his priority list. At last night’s CNN town hall, which was moderated by Don Lemon, Castro called Trump’s immigration policies cruel.

His plan, is very detailed, and he would like to decriminalize illegal border crossings;offer a path to citizenship to the “Dreamers” plus other undocumented immigrants; and institute a Marshall Plan for Central America to help deter possible asylum-seekers.

Castro also called for compassion when dealing with border security.

Audience members also asked the Democrat his feelings on tax returns, slavery reparations, and legalizing marijuana.
