On Tuesday, prosecutors in Cook County, Illinois unexpectedly decided that they were no longer going to pursue their case against actor Jussie Smollett. All 16 charges against the “Empire” actor were mysteriously dropped.
Well, as can be expected, there was immediate backlash and outrage to the decision. The Chicago Police Department was incensed, but likely no one was angrier than Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, at least publicly.
He came out on several occasions and ripped the prosecutors’ decision, calling it a “whitewash of justice.” The city of Chicago is now demanding $130,000 from Smollett as a way to recoup some of the money wasted investigating Smollett’s hoax.
Now, it appears that Emanuel is back to being the same guy that we all know, a partisan Democrat, who isn’t fond of President Trump. He’s actually blaming Trump for the whole Jussie Smollett situation, saying Trump created an environment where such things could happen.
Rahm Emanuel blames Donald Trump's "toxic environment" for Jussie Smollett
"The only reason Jussie Smollett thought he could take advantage of a hoax about a hate crime is for the environment, the toxic environment that Donald Trump created.” https://t.co/VFynWrenZ6 pic.twitter.com/ekrdaLFqW7
