In the wake of the New Zealand terrorist attack, Prime Minster Jacinda Arden swiftly banned all “military assault style semi-automatic weapons” and high capacity magazines.
“Today I am announcing that New Zealand will ban all military-style semi-automatic weapons.” – New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden

Liberals in the US were quick to call Ardin a true leader and question why we can’t do the same here.
This is what real action to stop gun violence looks like. We must follow New Zealand's lead, take on the NRA and ban the sale and distribution of assault weapons in the United States. https://t.co/lSAisDG9Ur

Sandy Hook happened 6 years ago and we can’t even get the Senate to hold a vote on universal background checks w/ #HR8.
Christchurch happened, and within days New Zealand acted to get weapons of war out of the consumer market.

You know, instead of training children, teachers, houses of faith, & concertgoers to prep for being shot, we could just:

In country after country, massacres are followed by sweeping changes to gun laws, as logic would dictate. The United States needs to follow these examples and take action to protect Americans from this deadly public health scourge. pic.twitter.com/yEOscNh6on

What they forget is that the United States has a Constitution that gives citizens the right to bear arms. New Zealand does not, making a change like this much easier.
To “follow these examples” the US would need to repeal the Second Amendment, ban all semi-auto, force gun stores to show all purchases to gov’t, and spend $200 million taxpayer dollars to confiscate firearms. But they say they don’t want to take guns … https://t.co/jXMrZb6u3J

Overnight they banned any semi-automatic firearm with a detachable magazine that holds more than five rounds. In America, that means nearly all firearms legally and commonly owned by millions of law abiding citizens. It is confiscation and Bernie Sanders just fully endorsed it. https://t.co/VuFUXxZk1S

I sure see a lot of people who like to say "nobody is coming for your guns" celebrating this confiscation effort. https://t.co/e3quZ8v7gi
