Rising country star dies after accidental shooting on music video set

Thirty-five year old Justin Carter, a rising star in country music, has died after an accidental shooting on the set of his new music video. The gun was supposed to be a prop for the video and accidentally went off.

Carter’s mother, Cindy McClellan, told Fox:

“He was a wonderful artist,” McClellan said. “He was the voice, he was the total package and we’re trying to keep his legend [alive].”

“He just loved music, he was very gifted and by God, his voice was spectacular,” McClellan said, adding that Carter wanted to find musical success in order to “take care of his family.”

An official post on the singer’s Facebook page broke the news to fans.

Carter served in the U.S. Army and his family is hoping to get approval for a military burial.
