Yesterday, the President simply tweeted “VETO!” and today he has made that official, issuing his first veto in office on the Congressional resolution that blocked his national emergency declaration over border wall funding.

In a press conference, the President called the resolution dangerous, and said countless Americans would be in grave danger without a law, and reiterated that it is definitely a national emergency.

There is not enough support for the resolution to override the President’s veto, but Democrats plan to bring the issue back to the House and Senate floors in six months and will once again force a vote.
Twelve Republicans voted with the Democrats to pass the resolution, including Mitt Romney, Rand Paul and Susan Collins.
Following the veto, Sen. Lindsey Graham tweeted his support for the President.
Totally support President @realDonaldTrump's VETO.
President Trump is right to declare an emergency on our southern border and he’s right on the law allowing him to reallocate funds to secure our southern border.
