Trump campaign responds to Michael Cohen’s congressional testimony

Michael Cohen testified in front of the House Oversight Committee Wednesday and laid into President Donald Trump. In his opening remarks, Cohen called Trump a “racist,” “conman” and a “cheat.”

Of course, absolutely anything and everything that comes out of Cohen’s mouth cannot be taken seriously. He is a convicted felon, going to prison in May for three years for….lying to Congress. That fact didn’t stop Democrats from attempting to use Cohen’s testimony to paint a picture of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.

Understanding the position that Cohen’s public testimony put them in, they had to respond.

The campaign’s National Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany released a statement:

“Michael Cohen is a felon, a disbarred lawyer, a and convicted perjurer, who lied to both Congress and Special Counsel in a ‘deliberate and premeditated’ fashion according to the Special Counsel’s Office. Now he offers what he says is evidence, but only support for that is his own testimony, which has proven to be worthless. As noted by the Southern District of New York, Cohen’s wide array of crimes were ‘marked by a pattern of deception that permeated his professional life’ and his ‘instinct to blame others is strong’ Prosecutors said his actions were to ensure that he would ‘profit personally, build his own power, and enhance his level of influence.’ This is the same Michael Cohen who has admitted that he lied to Congress previously. Why did they even bother to swear him in this time?”
