Trump administration approves new rule that will restrict funding for abortion clinics

A new rule approved by the Trump administration will restrict abortion funding for groups like Planned Parenthood. According to USA Today, the rule “would ban organizations from providing abortions if they are performed in the same facilities as other services financed by federal funds. It would also block funding for organizations that refer women to another provider for the procedure.”

Ronald Reagan signed a similar policy in 1988, but the rule was eventually overturned during Bill Clinton’s presidency after years of fighting it out in court.

Abortion providers and advocates are not happy with the Trump White House, saying it makes it harder for women to get the medical care they need.

Democratic lawmakers also weighed in, including several running for President in 2020.
