Democrat Kamala Harris raises $1.5M hours after announcing presidential campaign

Kamala Harris is officially running for President of the United States.

The first-term senator announced her presidential campaign Monday morning. Harris made her announcement on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

The California senator hops into what is likely to be a crowded field of Democrats to become the leader of the country.

The high-profile politician, while it is still extremely early, immediately becomes the Democratic front runner. After announcing her bid for president, Harris’ campaign began bringing in the big bucks.

In the first 24 hours after her GMA announcement, the campaign $1.5M in donations. Likely even more impressive is that they were small-dollar donations, with that money coming from 38,000 donors.

Until Beto inevitably gets into the race, it appears Harris will be the front runner.
