“House of Cards.” “Fuller House.” “Ozark.” “Stranger Things.” “Bird Box.” What do all of these random titles have in common? You have to have a Netflix subscription in order to view them and soon, that subscription is going to cost more.
The popular streaming service is raising its most popular plan from $11 to $13 a month. Likewise, it $8 plan will also increase to $9. Additionally, the service’s premium plan, which allows for streaming in HD on two devices simultaneously, from $14 to $16.
While this may be a modest increase, it will touch all subscribers in the United States.
This rate hike can’t come as much of a surprise, given the impressive amount of original content Netflix is producing.
Netflix is attempting to compete and keep up with other services such as Hulu, Amazon and HBOGO’s $15 a month plan. Disney will also be launching its own streaming service later this month.
