Trump reacts after longtime lawyer Michael Cohen sentenced to 3 years in prison

President Donald Trump’s longtime lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen was sentenced Wednesday to three years in federal prison.

Cohen received the sentence after he admitted to lying to Congress and for campaign finance violations, which included making payments to women who said they had affairs with then-candidate Donald Trump.

Cohen said the payments to the women were directed by President Trump in order to buy their silence and they he felt it necessary to cover up the president’s “dirty deeds.”

However, President Donald Trump fired back on Twitter Thursday morning after Cohen’s sentencing, addressing that the secret payments to the two women, porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal, were ordered by Trump.

Cohen is scheduled to report for prison on March 6.
