Businessman announces bid for mayor of Indianapolis

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett officially has a challenger.

Businessman John Schmitz formally announced his campaign for mayor Thursday night at Indy’s Soldiers and Sailors monument.

During his announcement, Schmitz touched on a couple of the issues, including Indy’s pothole-covered roads and the city’s crime/murder rate. However, the Republican primarily used the occasion to introduce himself, talk about his background and some of what he plans to do if elected to become the next mayor of Indianapolis.

Prior to Thursday evening’s announcement, Schmitz’s campaign had put out a video introducing himself and why he wants to become Indianapolis’ next mayor.

Check out the campaign’s website.
