Marvel films are uber popular at the box office. Seriously, play the Marvel logo before any film and it’s guaranteed to bring in a couple hundred million dollars.
With the crazy popular and profitable Avenger films set to come to an end in April 2019 with the release of “Avengers: Endgame,” Marvel has to begin to look at its other films to keep things going.
With the first Captain Marvel film on the way next, only two Ant-Man films, and only Black Panther film, Marvel should have plenty to last them awhile. However, one character that, for whatever reason, doesn’t seem to get the attention that other Marvel characters do, is Dr. Strange.
After the 2016 Dr. Strange film, it was only a matter of time before Marvel decided to pump out a sequel. Well, now a sequel to that film is officially on the way.
The Hollywood Reporter said on Tuesday that the director of the original Scott Derrickson had signed up for the sequel. Also coming back are of course Dr. Strange Benedict Cumberbatch and Rachel McAdams.
Production on the film is set to begin shooting sometime in spring 2020 with the film set to be released in May 2021.
