Ever since “Passion of the Christ,” the popularity of faith-based films have increased dramatically.
However, most of them, in my opinion, generally do not look good. Whether it’s the terrible acting, weak writing or some other reason, the trailers usually aren’t going to inspire audiences to run out and purchase a ticket.
But “Breakthrough,” a movie about a teenager who falls through ice and ends up in the hospital, looks exponentially better than the average faith-based flick.
The acting looks much better, the writing at least appears to be much improved and there are even some recognizable faces in the cast, including Chrissy Metz ( This is Us), Josh Lucas and Topher Grace.
“Breakthrough” hits theaters April 17, 2019.
