Vice President Mike Pence’s Chief of Staff Nick Ayers will not become President Trump’s chief of staff.
Ayers was thought to be the front runner to replace outgoing Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly.
Instead, Ayers announced over the weekend on Twitter that he will instead be leaving at the year’s end.
Thank you @realDonaldTrump, @VP, and my great colleagues for the honor to serve our Nation at The White House. I will be departing at the end of the year but will work with the #MAGA team to advance the cause. 🇺🇸 #Georgia

It’s believed that Trump and Ayers could not agree to terms on the length to which he would stay in the position.
Trump says he will now begin interviewing potential replacements. One name that has been circulating as a potential replacement is North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows.
