Heisman Trophy winner forced to apologize for 6, 7-year-old tweets

Things are getting really, really stupid. I mean incredibly stupid.

Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray won the Heisman Trophy Saturday evening, the annual award that goes to the nation’s top collegiate football player. However, the 21-year-old student-athlete wasn’t allowed to enjoyed it for long.

Hours after Murray was selected as the Heisman Trophy winner, 6, 7-year-old tweets of Murray’s began resurfacing. The tweets from Murray were anti-gay In a number of tweets, Murray would use the word “queer” as an insult.

Of course, Murray was forced to apologize for tweets he sent when he was 14 and 15 years old.

Earlier this week it was Kevin Hart, who under pressure from after 6-7 year-old tweets, gave up his hosting gig at the Oscars.

Now, should he have said it? Probably not, but what 14 and 15-year-old kid doesn’t say inappropriate things? Heck, what 40 and 50-year-old doesn’t? Not only that, but if you let words of someone that you have never even met have some kind of power over your life and affect your day, then that sounds like your problem, not mine.

Is this really the precedent that we want to be setting as a society? Believe and think the way that we do or we’ll come after you and make your life unbearable.

Not only that, but who in the world has the time to sit back and look through tweets from years and years ago?

Again, society is getting really, really stupid.
