Substitute teacher tells first graders Santa isn’t real, loses her job

Ah yes, it’s the most wonderful time of the year: the holiday season.

It’s that special time of year when everyone is running around like made trying to pick up the right gift, battling colds/coughs/and or the flu and fulfilling tediously, boring  obligations like going to company Christmas parties or sending out pointless Christmas cards to people you haven’t seen in 10 years.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the holiday season. There is plenty to like about presents, time off work and eating to your heart’s content. As a child, one of the great things about Christmas is Santa Claus and waiting in eager anticipation of what the fat, jolly old man may leave under the tree come Christmas morning.

Well, one teacher in New Jersey took the fun of Santa away from an entire group of children.

Following the incident, the school’s superintendent said she was “troubled and disheartened by this incident.”

Apparently, the teacher also gave away the secret about existence of the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. Now the teacher will not be returning to the school system.

Children have the right to be children and part of that is believing in a guy who travels around the world in one night, breaking and entering as he delivers toys.
