President George H.W. Bush had a great sense of humor and famously wore crazy socks to mark special occasions. When President Bill Clinton visited him earlier this year, he wore socks with Clinton’s face printed on them and to commemorate his wife Barbara’s love of literature, wore socks with colorful stacks of books to her funeral.
He’s even going to be buried in a spiffy pair that pay tribute to his time in the service.
The 41st President will be carried to his final rest wearing socks that pay tribute to his lifetime of service, starting as an 18 year-old naval aviator in war. That legacy is now being carried, in part, by the brave, selfless men and women aboard @CVN77_GHWB. #Remembering41 pic.twitter.com/OabtK756fO

People on all social media platforms decided the best way to honor the late President was to wear their crazy socks and began sharing pictures of them with the hashtag #SocksforBush.

In my life time, no President made me feel America & it’s citizens were safe until President Ronald Reagan came along with George H. W. Bush as his VP. I was grateful when President Bush took office and my peace continued. Rest In Peace George H. W. Bush, salute. #socksforbush🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/AZ61MJa7ap
