‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ retains the top spot at box office

Ralph kept his tight grip upon the box office, with “Ralph Breaks the Internet” coming in at no. 1 for the second weekend in a row. The Disney sequel brought in nearly $26M in its second week of release.

In a bit of surprise, the evil, green-colored character made a comeback this weekend. “The Grinch” brought in $17.7M, good enough for second place. “Creed II,” starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone finished third with $16.8M.

None of those three top films faced any new, significant challenge as the only film new release this weekend with the R-rated horror flick “The Possession of Hannah Grace” bombed badly. The film was only able to scare up $6.5M in its first weekend. It finished in an embarrassing seventh place at the box office.

Ralph will likely stay atop the box office next weekend as well. No film hitting theaters next weekend has any kind of wide appeal.
