Even though referees can call some questionable, touch fouls at times, basketball can be a physical game. Honestly, that’s the way the game should be played. Everyone loves a good, clean competitive game.
No matter what level of basketball you prefer, there is a line when good, hard physical play turns into something else entirely, that crosses over into potential criminal charges. That’s exactly what happened during a recent game between Fitchburg State University and Nichols College.
Nichol’s Nate Tengalia can be seen catching a pass down near the baseline, lines up a three point shot, shoots and then promptly knocks it down. However, the play didn’t stop there.
Fitchburg State’s Kewan Platt is seen running over to supposedly defend the shot, but instead looks behind him and watches the shot go in and then promptly delivers a brutal shot to Tengalia’s head with elbow and forearm.
This is disgusting 😣 pic.twitter.com/D8xihwFmwT

Not only was Platt suspended from the team for his dirty play, but he has since been barred from campus.
Again, basketball can be a tough, physical game, but there is no excuse for this kind of dirty play. Not only should the young man be kicked off the team, but charges are probably in order.
